End scene of Chapter 16 . After their game, Motoharu is seen clutching his bleeding nose, while his sister has collapsed on the ground.

Detailed Summary[]

At Tadakuni’s house, Hidenori starts recounting an anecdote, disturbing the other two who are playing cards. He says that as he was brushing his teeth that morning, he saw something on his eyebrow and reached to pull it out. It turned out to be a white eyebrow hair about 3 cm long. This freaks Yoshitake out, but Tadakuni notes that it isn’t all that scary. Yoshitake tells Tadakuni not to get too full of himself just because he ‘won the last round’ and declares himself the sure winner this time. Hidenori decides to call Karasawa over, as he knew several scary stories.

Ch17 1

Yoshitake's story unfolds

Yoshitake then begins his story. Once, as he was washing his face, he rubbed the soap in too vigorously, and accidentally slammed his finger far up his nose. This caused a crunch to echo through his head, and his nose started leaking blood. The others are distressed upon hearing this. Yoshitake then adds that after a while, the dripping stopped and no further ill-effects occurred (this is indicated to be a true story). In the end, Tadakuni and Hidenori aren’t too impressed.

It is now Tadakuni’s turn, and he says he doesn’t have a scary story, but remembers something about Karasawa. He says that he saw him take his cap off once, and it was really hilarious. The others, excited, ask him what he saw, but he backs down saying that Karasawa wouldn’t want them to know. They refuse to take it for an answer and prepare to set up an ambush for Karasawa so they can find out.

Ch17 2

A confrontation is already underway

Hidenori and Yoshitake head out to intercept Karasawa, but are startled to find Tadakuni’s younger sister already confronting him in a fighting stance. Yoshitake concludes that she definitely was eavesdropping and the three chase an agitated Karasawa, who doesn’t understand what’s happening, down the street. As they run after him, Tadakuni peeps out from behind a pole, realising that it’s too late to tell them his story was a lie.
